When my daughter went to pick up our telephone order, she was charged £24.40 instead of the advertised price of £16.10 on their website. Upon returning home, we discovered that part of our order was missing. When I went back to the restaurant to address this issue, the staff initially admitted to overcharging by £2, but upon further discussion, they acknowledged it was actually over £8. The staff were unapologetic and seemed indifferent to the inconvenience caused. After some argument, they refunded me £4, but not the full amount. It seems that other customers have had similar experiences, and as a result, we do not plan on returning. It may be worth investigating by Trading Standards.
Disregard the old negative reviews or those unrelated to the food. My partner and I enjoy fish and chips every week and have sampled all the chippies in the East. The Silver Leaf is the clear winner. The fish is freshly battered as you wait and never greasy. The Bethany (located on lower Newtownards Rd, not Belmont) is also a good choice, but the Silver Leaf is consistently excellent.
The food was too expensive, the staff behind the counter were not very friendly, and one of the girls had a bad attitude.
I went in to order a small chip, so I orderd my chip then after i placed my order she turned round and said I need a mask to be in the store then I said im asthmatic and I have other health issues and the continued to tell me to leave the store. So the point is don't go there if you are asthmatic or have other health problems they won't let you purchase you'll just get told to leave. So. Basically I can't get my dinner now because I'm asthmatic. Great.
My husband and I have tried a number of chip shops in the area. Silver Leaf is by far our favourite. The staff are friendly, the portions are great and the fish and chips are good quality.
