Seems to attract all crowds, looks unassuming at the front bar but all the action happens when you walk through into the old arcade. Food is basic fare, it's not really a restaurant. Entertainment varies depending on the night. Small night club upstairs can be booked out for functions.
The Hudson bar has recently had to downsize via removal of the outdoor smoking area at the back of the premises which means that the number of people inside the bar on any given night makes it feel quite cramped. They seem to have taken on a new peaky blinders theme which is cool if your really into the programme however, like many other bars which have become themed, I'm not sure what peaky blinders has to do with Belfast or that bar in particular. Decent pints, typically priced for Belfast city centre.
Used to love this pub. Took my girlfriend there for some food. Ordered Hudson burger with BBQ pork and my other half had cajun burger. Beef pate was dry, bap was dry, no sauce, except dry BBQ pulled pork, no salad except hugly cut single piece of tomato. I 'm not much of a complainer however in situations where I 'm left still hungry and just ripped of a 10er I 'm not happy, so I 've called a waitress over that done not much more than trying to prove me that the beef pate isn 't dry, it 's only dry because it 's been sitting for a while now or there isn 't a sauce because theres BBQ pork aye, there is but it 's dry. and the salad isn 't inside the burger but it 's on the side took ages to finally get to speak to the menager who previously was unable to talk to us. After coming over, she apologised, refund my meal and I 'm still hungry as I don 't want to face disappointment again and a future battle for decent pub food.
Sadly defunct. Completely gone apart from a few branded posters here and there. The stage, tent, interior, outside seating have all gone. I walked through the old arcade earlier and it was just a bare space with bits of wood laying about. Hopefully it will be back at some point as it was a truly great pub especially the yard. Very sad. I can't give it more than one star there's nothing left to rate.
