Cépaé Tasting Room - Bellevue

When we received the menus, we were told they were out of duck, lamb, and, I believe, ribeye. Given the limited selection, it’s puzzling to be out of these items on a Thursday night. We ended up ordering the 8oz Kobe beef burger with a black squid ink bun for $29. Yes, you read that right—a burger for $29! My date and I requested medium-cooked burgers, but both came out rare. If you’re charging that much for a gourmet burger, you should have a chef who knows how to cook them correctly. I have no complaints about the server; they were fine. Overall, it was not a memorable experience. At least, for a first date, the company was great.

The atmosphere was fantastic, and the wine selection was excellent. The dessert was outstanding as well. I definitely plan to return. Parking was also convenient.

Based on the subpar service, lack of attention to detail, and disappointing customer service I experienced during my visit, I can't, in good conscience, recommend Cépaé to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience. It's unfortunate that a place with such potential falls short in the key aspects of hospitality. I suggest saving your time and money by seeking out other options in the area where you can receive the service and attention you deserve. Furthermore, considering the hefty prices of $15 and $16 for the desserts, I expected them to be outstanding. Unfortunately, both were lackluster and poorly flavored attempts to pass as fine French desserts.

I’m only giving this place 4 stars because we didn’t try the food! However, the waitress who assisted us was incredibly nice and very knowledgeable about the wine. She made excellent recommendations. The restaurant had a delightful aroma, and I noticed that the chocolate mousse was being ordered a lot. We live quite far from Bellevue, but if we ever find ourselves back in the area, we would definitely come back for a glass of wine and some French pastries.
