As a matter of fact, I 've lived in San Carlos 6 years and never noticed this spot. Commensurate to the exterior, the interior is bare bones. There are tables and chairs. Just basic utensils. In many ways, it feels a bit sketchy as well. The servers barely speak English and you hear the cacophony of Cantonese from the busy kitchen while the entire restaurant is jam packed with a mountain of pick up delivery meals waiting on the side. Everything is forgiven and then some when the food arrives. Eating at BSC is somewhat like walking in a field of treasure or an Easter egg hunt. The menu does not describe anything, and I 'm sure there 's some Chinese name for it, so you sort of take a bet ordering. But guess what. Whatever you order, will be phenomenal. This is by far one of the best Cantonese comfort food in the Bay Area. There is nothing more to say here. The food is authentic and amazing. And when the food arrives, you sort of feel what else should or could I hve ordered. It is clear that there is more love than one can imagine imbued into every dish that comes out, hot and fresh, from the kitchen. And one can also tell that they are hitting the limits of scale preserving the quality and taste while keep prices super low. I truly commend the owner for keeping BSC the way it is, not worrying about niceties or garnish and staying focused on putting a spoonful of delight in every bite.
Although waiting time is a little bit long, the dishes are super good and in great value!!! It deserves your waiting time. The owners are super hospitality and polite making you seem like come back home.
Good Hong Kong/Cantonese cuisine but the service was kind of slow our dishes came out after at least half an hour.
Everything is alright. Big portions and good price, ok quality. Congee not bad, not a lot of stuff in it. Curry fish ball not bad, the packaged ones you can get from Asian supermarket. Baked pork chop rice not bad just the sauce tastes like all ketchup. Hot and sour soup lots of egg drops not much meat. The basil fish was quite good. Just wishing for once a Cantonese would go above and beyond.
My husband and I came here occasionally today and were both surprised by their food quality— they are amazing and super good! After I moved from NJ to CA, this is the first Chinese restaurant that has been shocked me by its taste! We ordered three regular dishes to see how good they were—House Hainan chicken lunch plate, black bean spare ribs and beef chow fun. The house hainan chicken tastes super fresh and juicy! The black bean spare ribs is amazing and absolutely delicious- ribs are tender and the rice is scrumptious ! Their amount is quite huge and we were full after two dishes. The beef chow fun was taken to home and it’s also very good! The staffs are very friendly and nice. Tea is free. And the price is reasonable($20-30/person For those who want to try authentic Cantonese cuisine, it’s the best one and I highly recommended it! Definitely i will come back to try again!
