First off as the locals entered they glared at you that you were sat. We wanted to experience tapas so chose several items off the menu. Unfortunately they didn’t all arrive despite trying to charge them for us at the end. The tapas we had were acceptable however we felt pressured, the waitress wasn’t patient and quite off hand. My thoughts are don’t bother if you’re English leave them to their local clientele, there’s far better tapas out there for your money.
Down ‘Tapas Alley’, we chose this tapas bar because it seems to be one of the more authentic and less touristy. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 kids so spread out over 2 inside tables. You can’t reserve a table here and you place your orders at the bar. We chose a mixture of tapas dishes to share; chorizo, mushrooms with ham, potato tortilla, a salmon tapas, stuffed peppers, and anchovies in vinegar. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was tasty and came quickly, we really enjoyed our lunch here, it felt like a taste of the real Spain, with high quality ingredients cooked well, the anchovies and tortilla are some of the best we have eaten in Spain. Prices are slightly above what you would pay in other areas of Spain but to be expected in such a touristy area I guess.
We always make time to visit this genuine, authentic wee gem. Lovely to see familiar faces, Pedro Tania and Shonadar. This is by far the best tapas bar in Benidorm
