My fiancee is spanish and im irish so im catching up on the Spanish experience but I know enough at this stage to know that this was about as authentic and flavoursome as they come with rabbit and chicken and cooked over wood burner the flavour was intense. Also the homemade local style bread was delicious and house red wine perfect. The place itself reminded me of home with its homely feel and lots of traditional memorabilia on the walls. Real little snug even had a big wood burner heater in the corner (although wasn't cold enough for that when we were there). Service was great typical small town spanish with efficiency and no frills but warmth. To top it off pick yourself an orange or lemon off the many trees outside as you leave!
Very good value for money, plenty to choose from on the Menu del Dia. Lovely, friendly waitress who spoke excellent English. Authentic, real old Spanish restaurant, not so easy to find these days. Will definitely return on our next visit to Benimantell.
I was surprise by the quality of food as I remember coming a few years ago with the family and having a great meal. This time we ordered parrilla da and it was not good meat, chewy and not well cooked. Service was nice though.
Perfect food, perfect attention, quality price of 10.
We've been in the group of 6 adults and 6 children. We were sitting on a table that was very close to the exit of the chimney of the grill where they roasted (as you can see in the picture). that has made a lot of uncomfortable and smoked food both adults and children. We asked the owner if they could relocate us, but inside it was full, and under the stairs they didn't want for several vague reasons. Come on, it seems that a 10-square-down to serve us was uncollecting the waiters when it seems they have it open at other times (and even if they didn't have it, I don't think they'd have had much of the routine to do it today). And I think if there's a fireplace near where you're eating, you should at least say or ask if someone can bother you when booking. the attention of the waiter who has assisted us, attentive and correct at all times, except for certain slowness probably due to excess work. the price, in google is indicated as economical, although a rice dish between 12-13 euros and a tasting menu for 25, would not consider it as such. instead, the combined dishes of children, at 5 euros, were economic. the amount of food, abundant, without complaints. the quality, good, although the recommendation they have made us, of rice in the oven, has not finished dripping (and it is not my opinion, but that of the group in general). the pot in place, if it has dripped, although the companion has asked if it could be in the form of a small lid only to try it, and have served the whole dish, filling it as such. The desserts, the tasting they have brought us out, were good for the eldest. However, by assessing rice quality, the discomfort of smoke and the global price of quality, I cannot give you an approved one.
