Schwabenwirt - Berchtesgaden

We had a wonderful meal of well prepared food. the rösti and the nice were particularly delicious. the service level was very high and the staff was sweet and attentive. great recommended!

We had some time to kill before our eagle’s nest tour and sat on the terrace for a beer and a snack. serviceable local kitchen and cold beer served on a European timetable (casual and slow.) not a destination, but a solid midday choice based on comfort.

We stayed here overnight and had a room with a beautiful view on the Watzmann. The breakfast buffet is quite nice with a good choice.

We had just arrived in Berchtesgaden and checked into another hotel. It was lunch time and our hotel did not serve lunch so we headed out to get something to eat prior to taking the historical Eagle’s Nest tour. The Hotel Schwabenwirt is in the...center of Berchtesgaden, less than 200 feet from the train station, and with a view of the Watzmann Mountain. We saw the beer garden and decided to eat there. The hotel also has an à la carte restaurant but we preferred to go more casual. We found a table outdoors and our server brought us menus. She returned later and took our drink orders. The outdoor seating was very refreshing. We ordered our meals with our server’s assistance. Our server was the only staff working outside so the service was very slow. Fortunately, the tour office was right across the street from the beer garden. My daughter went there to check on our tour time. Meanwhile we had to track down our server to pay the bill. The food was okay but on the expensive side even for a tourist town. The food was okay, the service was very slow, and I thought the meals were a bit pricey for what we had. I recommend trying another establishment.

Das Restaurant bzw. die Gaststätte ist eine Katastrophe! Die „Grillhaxe“ erinnerte mehr an ein gebräuntes Eisbein. Als Reaktion auf unsere Beanstandung hat der Koch sich geweigert, eine andere Bestellung von uns entgegen zu nehmen. Als wir nach der Chefin gefragt haben, hat sich zunächst niemand mehr blicken lassen. Nachdem wir die Chefin aufgestöbert hatten, wurde sie extrem pampig und hat uns aus dem Lokal geworfen. So eine Frechheit haben wir noch nie erlebt. Den „Schwabenwirt“ kann man nur meiden! Der Kellner war trotzdem sehr freundlich.
