As soon as we finished eating, we were given our bill. When I stood up to put my jacket on, the waitress started wiping the table while I was still there. I was not impressed at all.
My wife and I stopped there for take out. I ordered the seafood chowder, which was a good size portion and quite tasty. I was a little disappointed with the fish and scallops meal though. The scallops were fine and the fish was ok but a little on the small size. My wife ordered the whole clams and chips. She said the clams weren't the best she ever had but were very good. Overall the meal was pretty decent but pricey for how much we got. Overall not a bad experience.
The owner of John's Motel recommended we try 748 for good food, and we were not let down. We had dinner one night and breakfast the next morning, both of which were excellent and homemade. If we ever find ourselves in Bathurst again, we will definitely return to 748.
Plane Atlantic Canada food at its most dependable. We love the clams, the chowder and occasionally the steaks. Good service, clean just plain good dependable food.
We are visiting the area for a CDN Seniors tournament in nearby Bathurst. While looking for a non-chain, local, family type restaurant, we found 748. We were not disappointed. My husband enjoyed his 1/2 hamburger steak special with fries and coleslaw; I had a lobster club thus fulfilling the goal of daily fish or shellfish while here in New Brunswick. It was terrific, generous with lobster, wouldn't change a thing. We took it as a good sign that the place is large, well-maintained, and had numerous customers for lunch on Labour Day,
