Akiko SushiIt seems to me that people don’t always understand the concept of a review, nor how is supposed to be written and what factors are and / or aren’t relevant. You see, I can get a good cup of coffee in a café, but can also get one in a Restaurant, a Hotel Bar or a Petrol Station (U.S. Gas Station). If I am about to review the Restaurant, I should do so under all aspects that come to play in that case, that particular restaurant, its targeted clientele, its line of service and the products.Criticizing the fact that a vegan restaurant has no veal on the menu, or that they don’t serve any Heinz Ketchup, is definitely not the right way of conducting a review.Giving a bad review to a business just because they didn’t manage to reach your particular C-Spot (Culinary Spot), whilst being correct within the nature of their business (clean, good quality products etc.), is harmful to the business and certainly not helpful to those readers who might be on the lookout for a place exactly like that one you criticized bad.In this thread, I found a few reviews asking the people “haven’t you eaten proper sushi yet?” and find that to be highly irritating!Ever been to Japan?Ever eaten sushi there? There are high class restaurants, there are regular restaurants and surrounding those, there are so many more variations, styles and identities. So please, if you are going to go to a place famous for being full 80% of the time, don’t complain about it being crowded, or that the service is working focused and doesn’t waste time.Be objective.Akiko Sushi is one of my most favorite places in Berlin, because the prices are highly affordable and while they meet the low to regular price segment of this sort of restaurant, they do serve the highest quality I was able to taste in this area of Berlin, but also many other places. The reason why it is so crowded most of the time is because everything they serve there is delicious, well made and fresh. After six years of regular visits, I was not able of observing otherwise. The atmosphere goes very much to a regular Sushi Bar you would find in Japan.Come lunch or dinnertime, it will be crowded and it could get loud even (since a crowd always contributes to that effect.).Here at least you can make a reservation, which is a luxury when you compare it with Japanese sushi bars (not talking about Restaurants!).I never experienced the staff being unpleasant or unfriendly!Stressed, yes. But that is something a reasonable person would expect once entering the locality. You don’t go there for a fast snack! You go there to enjoy, take some friends or colleagues along and have a good time whilst eating sushi and drinking a bit of sake.I have ordered many times sushi to be delivered at home, but always planning ahead! The longest wait was one and a half hours, for which I was prepared for.Usually however it’s close to one hour or less.If there is a lot going on, they will also give you an estimate on the phone.By rule of thumb I add to that another twenty minutes.I go to other places as well. They are either higher priced (much!), but offer a relaxed atmosphere, or have the same prices, but the quality (not talking about the freshness), the quantity and simply the taste aren’t the same.I am very happy to have found this place and would recommend it to any sushi enthusiast.I’ll make some photos next time.Doumoarigatougozaima shi ta
