Contribuisci feedbackCash only! I usually would not write a review for a place with just one vegan option but the taste and place is extraordinary. I was checking out this cafe although there were yet no pictures on happycow. I was amazed how cosy and beautiful it is and added photos! There is always only one vegan cake they said, but I've just had it and it's seriously one of the best almond cakes I ever had in my life. The coffee is delicious and the staff was lovely, too! If you are around and looking for a sweet treat and a warm atmosphere you definitely should go there! Updated from previous review on 2023-10-25
Nice homemade cakes, ice creams, coffee, nice and cosy, great to sit outside, sweet furnished, usually fully packed, all to take away, gerat coffee as well. lovely tee's
This review is for the branch at Rheinstrasse 65 Berlin so will most likely reflect a different situation to the other branch which appears in others reviews. This cafe is an oasis amongst the internet cafes and kebab places in Rheinstrasse near to Ardenauerplatz. It is like stepping in to an idea of what old Berlin was like. It is small and cramped (although if there wasn't a grand piano in the middle there would be more tables, but less atmosphere). You are greeted by a refrigerated display of gorgeous cakes and tarts. There hardest part of the experience is which one to choose. A friendly fellow customer suggested that we try them all - he was buying four different ones to take away. There are also biscuits and chocolates to buy, and a wonderful selection of coffees and teas. When they bring your tea, it is accompanied by a tea timer and the waitresses tell you how long to let your leaves brew for the optimum flavour. We visited twice on a recent visit to Berlin and found the service excellent. Both waitresses were friendly, helped find us a table and kept asking us in English if everything was ok. I ate my Raspberry and Mascarpone Cake rather too quickly and was amusingly admonished for eating it too quickly.Nothing subtle here but a lot less prissy than similar Parisian cafes. Don't visit too late in the afternoon if intending to go out to dinner!
This little café cum cake shop came heartily recommended by friends who live in Friedenau and the cakes, while not outstanding are quite good. But the service! While already well acquainted with Berliner's rudeness, this lady topped it all - arrogant, surely, not pleasant at all. Reason enough not to return, unless the owner takes notice since I hear that this was not a one off.
I have ordered a lemon mandel cake at the woman's birthday. the cake was fresh, the taste was incredible. also highly recommended in consideration of the price.
