This place is anithing but pretencious, so be prepared for a fairly sober setup. It is classed as a diner, not a restaurant, but is an excellent example of Indian food and probably one of the best in Berlin for its value for money. We are regulars here, and I've tried douzens of Indian restaurants all over the world. The menu is not endless, so it's easier to make your choice. The meats are well treated and sauces in the regional dishes correspond to the description in the menu: scharf is in fact hot! (which is not always the case for Germany). Try the delicous Dal Freyd soup in the vegi section, and the Bhathura fried bread. With drinks you get about 10 to 12 euro per person for a dinner. Very reasonable if I may say. The outdoor seating offers comfy plaids for fresh evenings. The service is correct and inviting. My personal favorite here is chicken jhelfraise (jalfrezi in the UK). Traditional grilled dished are a must too.
We could sit outside and eat. After deliberating what to order and handing over the menu cards to the waiter, he simply threw them back on our table instead of removing them. Not a good sign... As we waited for our dinner we observed that the waiter that was making the rounds seemed only to be interested in taking orders instead of clearing up tables.. hmmm... One normally gets salad along side ones dish but not here... no no.. The tapped beers were luke warm. Both the dishes, chicken karhai and chicken vindaloo looked the same and it was difficult to taste what was what. And to top it all off, they forgot our order of batura and naans. Even though we had eaten our dinner the waiter hovered all over the place doing absolutely nothing and after 20 minutes of some very hard looks he reluctantly removed our plates and dishes. To make it a somewhat positive experience I in the same go, ordered two ice creams that were very typical pakistani/indian. Cheeko and shareefa (custard apple) ice creams.. And what do you know! They didnt have them!! Disgusted with the service, the over priced menu and the lack of having what they declare to have - we left without tipping. I don't think he was surprised. Kashmir gets zero stars from me. We certainly will never return back.
We stumbled accross this place when i had a craving for indian food. The guy who runs the place is really pleasant and there was a good choice on the menu. The foodd was of a good standard overall, not the best but fine. It was served quickly, efficiently was tasty and the place was clean. Only complain was that the portions were a bit small. We paid 23 euro for 2 beers, 2 mains, rice and 2 naan breads - so not bad. Average I would say. It wouldn't be a bad choice.
My favourite place ever in Berlin. Tasty, affordable, friendly environment like a family and homemade food. Marvellous ????
