I had never seen this offered anywhere else in the world and I can honestly tell you that it is like nothing you have ever had before. The portion you are given is just enough. For the main course I had Veal Schnitzel which was good without being great. It seems that the proper way of cooking this dish is to do so with copious amounts of butter, I found it to be a bit heavy for me. Having said that, the meal was fine, the service outstanding and the price was most reasonable.
The whole ambience of this restaurant was just perfect. Space between tables, nicely furnished and the style of dining we particularly like. The food was very nice - a somewhat unusual touch on ingredients which made the whole dining experience more rewarding. Staff were not obtrusive, and were attentive when needed.
This restaurant specialises in local food and beer. I had a selection of small portions of food and similarly of the local craft beer, 3 x 20 cl. I was very happy and wish I hadn't left my visit till the last day.
Restaurant linked to Hilton; we ate the six of us during are last night in berlin; great experience; extremely friendly and efficient service; restaurant with 'space': not everybody crowded together. Food was delicious at very reasonable prices. We had 3 different wines: a sauvignon blanc from new zealand, a chateauneuf and an amarone and they were all wonderful at correct prices. Berlin is not really 'my city', so I will not be returning but if the restaurant was near my home I would be a regular guest! go there if you want friendly service, classical dishes at reasonable prices looking over the most beautiful square of berlin.
As I was satying at the Hilton I tried the Mark Brandenburg restaurant as it's in the hotel. It was good. The food was typical German with offeings of perch etc., and, of course, the classic Wienerschnitzel. As I was staying in the hotel, I had a voucher for a free glass of wine. Nice touch, but you will need a second one as it's not large.
