Thanh Long - Berlin

Miss O and I have been staying at Hotel 103 (separate review to come) here in the old Russian sector of the former DDR. Thanh Long is literally just out from the laneway that is the entrance to this hotel, which is 103 Shöenhauser Allee; Thanh Long is 104.In my view, the best seats in the house are the front counter that parallels the street; the passing parade is mesmerising. The local brew is Berliner Pilsiner, and is the least expensive beer on the menu and is excellent. Recommended, and suits the food perfectly, Wine is available by the glass, too.The food suited our palate and our stomachs; depending on the dish selected, a modest serving of rice is accompanied lashings of fresh vegetables and whatever sauce you ordered (we tried peanut, lemon grass, miso, and on other occasions, red and green curry) and served on interesting slightly curved trapezoid-shaped plates, sufficiently deep to contain the sauce.Vegetables include bamboo shoots, aubergine, carrots, zucchini, red capsicum, mushrooms, spring onions, bamboo shoots, and fresh tomato (this just works so well in a stir-fry).Cutlery includes knife, fork and spoon, napkins, and plastic-wrapped bamboo chopsticks.There are Vietnamese classics such as Pho and Bun, too.The owners and cook do not speak English, but understand some and there is an English menu. Their German sounds fluent, if you prefer.After discovering Thanh Long, we ate lunch and dinner there, and worked our way through quite a bit of the menu. With a glass of wine or a beer, 10-11 Euro per person; we felt this represents excellent value.Stupidly, this interface does not allow selection of both lunch and dinner; the same menus if offered at both sittings.

Very simple local restaurant with the BEST Vietnamese food in the area. Great value for money. Great Pho Bo soup. actually we tried most of the menu and it's all delicious.

If you wanna have some quick but really tasty Asian food this is your place! The meals are fresh and the prices are average Berlin.

We stayed in Berlin in July 2015 for a week and we ate here four times - the food is that good and SO reasonable in price that you just can't go wrong. Amazing choice of starters and main courses freshly prepared and the lady who looks after you does so very well indeed. Fantastic sea food but also try the "crusty" duck. All while sitting outside in the summer sunshine watching the world go by. Go here!

Delicious dishes, is super fast and always very warm prepared.
