The service at this restaurant was exceptionally slow, but the dinner itself was quite good. I particularly enjoyed the Green Chili Corn Chowder, which was flavorful and spicy - just how I like it. I initially planned to order the French Dip Sandwich, but the server informed me that it was pre-made and couldn't be cooked to my liking, so I opted for the Short Rib Dinner instead. While the dish was tasty and the root vegetables were delicious, I found the meat to be fattier than expected for a short rib. To hold me over while waiting for my meal, I requested a roll and was surprised to receive four rolls (more than I needed for one person) and was charged for it. Overall, I was not completely satisfied with this dining experience.
This restaurant is a great choice for both dinner and breakfast. The prime rib and pasta were excellent entrees for dinner, while the salmon was a bit dry but still tasty. The salads and other dishes were good, and the cheesecake was delicious. The breakfast buffet had a variety of options like eggs, sausage, and pastries, all of which were satisfying. Jacqueline, the hostess, provided friendly and exceptional service, going above and beyond to ensure our meal was enjoyable. The carver also provided exceptional service, although I didn't catch his name. Manager Michelle took care of any hiccups in service and exceeded our expectations. These employees deserve raises for their superior customer service skills. Overall, this is a good value restaurant with delicious food and accommodating staff. A great choice if you're in the area.
We visited their buffet and found it to be decent. The vegetable soup was unexpectedly spicy, made mostly of jalapeños, which we struggled to eat with lots of water. The chicken enchiladas were dry, lacking enough tomato sauce. Even the chicken tenders were dry, requiring sauce or ketchup for moisture. The pork loin was also dry, but improved with barbecue sauce. The mashed potatoes were creamy and complemented the meats well. The macaroni and cheese was a standout, being creamy and delicious. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating on a covered patio, with a great ambiance that wasn't too noisy despite a busy crowd. We didn't finish all our food, as we preferred ordering freshly prepared meals rather than buffet options that had been sitting out. The dry climate in New Mexico may have contributed to the overall dryness of the food. Goodbye!
For locals and visitors alike Santa Ana Cafe is a MUST have experience. We always ask for Chritauf. Amazing views of the open land and mountains, first class service, and the food is out of this world good. For those who complain about slow service at a hotel restaurant come on... they have to staff with enough employees for a place that maybe has 2 3 tables at a time (I.e. one server). Think like a business owner. We drive 40 minutes out of our way to come here and it 's never a disappointment. The only issue we 'd have is if it started getting crowded with locals and we had to wait!
