We were wondering around the old town looking for somewhere to eat lunch and time was running out. We decided to eat here, even though it was not the cosy and quaint little place that we had had in mind. We ordered two goat's cheese salads and were pleasantly suprised: they were a good size and had more than just a pile of lettuce. There was a melon slice and some avocado as well and it really filled me up. The price was correct and we were satisfied. The couple on the next table had orders some very tasty looking food too. I would certainly go back again.
Located in a vibrant spot with lots of people around enjoying themselves. Great to sit outside enjoy good food, wine and desserts and of course people watch. Reasonable prices and good service. I'd go there again.
We initially chose this restaurant because it looked busy. Heaven knows why: the food is expensive for the quality served. My original choice wasn't available so I relied on the restaurant's own suggestion of an alternative cut. I have to admit that without seeing it written on the menu and therefore relying on the waitresses description in French, which I barely understood, was probably my downfall. The meat cut was full of fat, only about two-thirds was edible. There were also many pieces of bone. When you pay €18 for a meal you rely on the chef to have made a half-decent choice and not serve something you wouldn't even give to a dog. After the meal I protested but they insisted on charging the same price as my original choice. I asked if the meal I was given was even on the menu - it wasn't. Quel surprise. Eventually they reduced it to €13, though I reckon they made up the difference by overcharging on the beer at €5.50 per bottle. I paid this but with the thought of giving it an awful review on TripAdvisor later.Seriously, if you want a good meal in Besançon then DO NOT visit this restaurant. Finally, people shouldn't feel bad about protesting. If this was business and my supplier acted like this we would no longer do business with them. It shouldn't be any different for you or I. Why should bad restaurants get away with it?My girlfriend's meal of beef steak, cooked medium, wasn't bad, I have to admit. But a similar/better meal in the UK would only have cost about €13-14, not €20. Restaurants like Au Grill'On give French restaurants a bad name.
