I grew up in Bettendorf, I ate a lot of Happy Joe. It was on the regular weekly pizza rotation in my family, we hung at this bedding village site often in high school... I think I even had a birthday party or two here. The room has definitely changed over the years. The arcade, the train that goes around the top of the main dining room, and many of the other features that I remember the space that contributes to a fun, child like atmosphere. Instead of these are clear cut-looking tables and stands, reddish beige walls throughout... usually the room looks as if it grew up as I (or should, at least). What has definitely not changed is the food and service. I knew exactly what I wanted on my last visit a paprika pizza on original chest. The cashier took my order, I paid, and I had my pizza within 15 minutes. Just as I remember years ago, the crust holds firmly on the ground, the cheese has a characteristic taste that only Happy Joe's pizza... exactly what I needed back then. This location has definitely placed Christmas in the metaphorical review mirror. It's just a few days in January and they have stuffed Valentine's Day, including some XOXO letters hanging over the ice and a table with a heart-patterned table cloth, heart-shaped plates, heart decorated cups, rose petals and other Valentine's accent. In any case, feels a bit early for this stuff, maybe even a little strange that it was there first, but it was certainly interesting. I'm glad Happy Joe is continuing her presence in Bettendorf and the larger Quad-Cities area. It is not always what I bless for pizza, but it is nice to have as an option when the desire meets. Thank you. Happy Joe's!
If you are in the quad cities, you need to try these local favorites. They make great pizza and are the original house of taco pizza. But all there are the specials great!
Love her pizza. Taco and pepperoni are the best. Very nice people working there.
We got a taco pizza, a veggie pizza, and a sausage pepperoni pizza. They were all excellent. Of course, that was expected. Happy Joe's Pizza is the best pizza of any ever with the best and ONLY pizza worthy of being called TACO pizza. If you haven't tried Happy's yet, don't waste anymore of your life. Run to your nearest Happy Joe's. Order it delivered across the country if you must. Of course, it will cost you; but if you just can't wait until you are back in a Happy Joe's city, it is worth the money. Depends on your level of obsession. Mine is VERY high for my taco friend.
