I have been to this charming market several times in the past two years, but the manager is the most rude and disgruntled person I have ever come across in a customer service position. I strongly advise against spending any money at this market!!! I would willingly drive an extra 5 miles each time just to avoid supporting this business.
I purchased a 9-inch cherry pie for $9. Half of the pie only had 6.5 cherries, and they were not even whole cherries and tasted worse than canned cherries. The rest of the pie was like jello. This is disappointing considering it came from a place known as the cherry capital of the world, located 20 miles away. The overall experience was a travesty to say the least. The crust was decent, but this pie gives the cherry country a bad name.
We have enjoyed shopping at this market for many years, when it was primarily a seasonal produce market. In recent years, it has transitioned to operating year-round and still offers a wide variety of locally produced and homemade products. Some of our favorites include the carrot cake bread loafs, buttermilk biscuits, dried fruit and veggies, and other snacks like apple chips. The current owners took over the business 7 or 8 years ago, but it has been known as The Market Basket for decades. New offerings include soup-to-go in the winter, grass-fed meat, and delicious housemade granola. They also carry well-known Michigan brands like Higher Grounds coffee beans and Cherry Republic jellies and jams. There is always something new to discover on the shelves, such as the unique asparagus salsa we found on our last visit. Overall, this locally owned business offers a great selection of Michigan products.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant that I feel compelled to warn potential new customers about. I have been here multiple times in the last two years, and the manager of this establishment is the rudest and most unpleasant person I have ever encountered in a customer service role. I strongly advise against spending money at this restaurant. I would go out of my way to travel an additional five miles just to avoid ever setting foot in this establishment again.
I ordered a 9-inch cherry cake for $9. Half of the pie contained 6.5 cherries, which were worse than canned cherries. The rest of the cake was gelatin. It is disappointing that this cake comes from a place 20 miles away from the cherry capital of the world. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The crust was decent, but it gives a bad name to Cherryland.
