Il Pastaio - Beverly Hills

The service was quite poor. Nobody acknowledged our presence, and the maitre d’ seemed disinterested, failing to greet us or address the delays with our seating. Once we were seated, no one came to offer us anything, which was almost amusing. Ultimately, we decided to leave and find another place. The food on the tables around us looked decent, but the service we received was lacking.

Il Pastaio is a charming restaurant that tends to be quite busy, but the service remains excellent despite the crowd. I've visited several of the Drago restaurants, and they typically earn between 4 to 5 stars. My friend and I began our meal by sharing a salad, which was absolutely delightful—everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. For his main course, he opted for a chicken dish, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I, on the other hand, ordered a risotto with salsiccia sausage, and unfortunately, it missed the mark. It was heavy and thick, almost resembling a paperweight. After a few bites, I decided to stop eating it. However, I took the leftovers home and the next day, I added various seasonings and some milk to thin it out a bit. It turned out much better! On another note, their wines by the glass are reasonably priced, and their House Chardonnay was decent. Would I return? Absolutely! Every restaurant can have an off day, but this one has built a solid reputation that I can't overlook.

Love this place come often how we I had never experienced service like this before: today was just confusion because we had to ask multiple times for water and bread. Nobody came by to refill us, had to ask runners for water and drinks. Just baffling service

However, our evening was marred by the service from the hostesses. Although we had a reservation for a table at 8 PM, we ended up waiting until 9:15 PM to be seated. To make matters worse, several parties that arrived after us were seated before us, leaving us feeling overlooked and disappointed. While we thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance, the long wait and the lack of attentiveness from the hostesses detracted from our overall experience. I sincerely hope the management addresses this issue, as improving the hosting process could significantly enhance the experience for future guests.

First time in LA and already a bullseye culinary experience. Fantastic service, pittoresk environment and finally a waiter who spoke Italian ! What a dream experience. Gave all the stars of the firmament to this ‘little diamond' in LA. Damn, I really regret to go back to NC.
