The chefs kindly created some vegetarian options for me when others were eating their meat and duck courses. Each course was beautifully presented and paired with different sake from Inata-Honten.All staff were very friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning again.
Friendly and fast service. We sat outside. Nice summery feeling, albeit narrow street with smelly mopeds and cars. It's in a funky area of Zurich. Food was OK. Fresh and well made but nothing special. We went there because a local paper said this was a must-go. I disagree.
Excellent Lunch set meals. Try the Miso eggplant, theor chilled green tea as well as their black sesame and green tea ice cream!
We went there on the 2nd Sept and despite their incorrect reservation of 20:30 instead of 18:30, we were still really looking forward to dinner. But this is when it all went wrong. The waitress simply did not care or want to be there. A simple order for drinks was met with bad attitude, followed by more negative attitude. We wanted to complain to someone else but seems the cooks didn't really care either. We walked out since the drinks were never served anyway and went to another restaurant. The previous restaurant there (Mdm Teoh) was so much better. Sad they closed down
Restaurant and interior looks promising. The descriptions on the menu sound tempting. It is also located in a hip and grungy neighourhood which should all be a recipe for a good meal and night out. Unfortunately the food disappoints. The miso cod was dry and it seems like miso paste was just pasted on top of a somewhat dry fish. Presentation was surely nice but it has to taste nice too. At this price point underwhelming. The rice was also dry and not Japanese rice. Again at this price point of the restaurant one could expect higher quality. So overall not very exciting. In general, Japanese restaurants in Zurich are nothing to write home about. At Ginger in Seefeld most of the sushi rolls are pre made, Bimi opposite is also a bit bland for the price. Haven't tried Hato yet but their pricing is also very aspirational. I have lived in Tokyo and NY - so I have a basic idea what good Japanese food looks like - even overseas. This did not hit the mark, sorry.
