Norling Cafe - Bhagsu

The Norling Cafe, located in a center that preserves and promotes Tibetan arts and crafts, unfortunately lacks a variety of Tibetan food options. When we visited on a quiet day in May, the menu offered mostly international and Indian dishes. Despite our disappointment in not being able to order dosas or momos, we decided to try the pizzas, which turned out to be surprisingly good. The service was friendly and the staff went out of their way to bring our food to our table, even though patrons are supposed to order and collect their food at the counter. Our bill for 2 lime sodas and 2 pizzas came to 540 rupees with tax. Overall, the Norling Cafe is worth a visit for its unique atmosphere and tasty dishes, despite its limited Tibetan food options.

Do not eat here, as they constantly mix up orders with other tables and show no remorse. This completely ruins the dining experience and is best avoided.

A small cafe in the Norbulingka Institute just after entering the gate. Has both open and shaded space for small snacks. However, cost of each item is unusually higher as compared to other cafes. Taste is good and service is OK. Main items are mango, banana and shakes, cold coffee etc.

After going around the Norbulingka institute, we ended the tour with a quick cold coffee break at the café. They have cakes, muffins and fresh fruit juices too. Very calm and peaceful place, with fluttering prayer flags all around. Nothing monastic about the prices though! The prices are high for a regular type of cafe, ordinary serving crockery and plastic chair seating.
