Yummy Key Lime Pie on a stick (dipped in chocolate). It's located right beside of the grocery store. Wish I had more time there, I was headed back to my cruise ship at Key West, so I didn't have a lot of time.
My boyfriend works next door to this place and when I went to visit him... he told me that I had to try some real key lime pie. Up until now, I have never been a fan of pie... of any sorts. I was reluctant to try this pie. However, he bought a slice for me and, I swear, each bite was like I was biting into a sweet limey fluffy piece of heaven. I never thought I would say that about any pie. The staff there is super friendly and they even have spoons for you to eat the pies with! (I an a pie-newbie so I asked for a fork the first time I went). Totally worth the .
For key lime pie connoisseurs, this is the original for 100 years Key West Key Lime Pie Co: winner of numerous American Pie council awards and not to be confused with inferior imitators! Unfortunately, they are no longer located in Key West but they supply restaurants and shops throughout the keys--see their website for the locations. If you don 't want to drive all the way down the keys, try Circle Ks in Key Largo or the John Pennekamp State Park snack shop in Key Largo. Or call 877-882-pies (7437) for other locations. My husband is key lime pie lover, so every time we visit the keys we come back with a cooler full of these pies. We found this shop conveniently close to out hotel (after driving around for 45 minutes looking for it in Key West) in the Big Pine Key Winn Dixie Shopping Plaza. In addition to pies, they offer all sorts of key lime products and souvenirs. They also will ship the pies to you via Fedex but it 's a pricey option.
I swung by this shop while I was in the Keys to pick up a bottle of their Key Lime BBQ Sauce (yum! . While there, my family and I grabbed a few of their Key Lime Bars, which is key lime pie on a stick, dipped in chocolate. We inhaled these before we even made it out the door! Unbeknownst to me, my mother-in-law had picked up a key lime pie from here the day before and we had it a few days later after dinner....equally as yummy. During our weeklong stay in the Keys, this place had the best Key Lime Pie we ate......and trust me, we ate Key Lime Pie everywhere! Don't let the dumpy Winn-Dixie shopping center chase you away. Stop by and grab lots of goodies if your in the area.
