Mark, our bartender, and Brenda, our server, were incredibly attentive; as soon as we requested something, they were already bringing it to us! The chicken-fried steak and French toast were excellent, but the sides truly stole the show! The sausage patty was so delicious that I want to find out who the supplier is. The breakfast potatoes had a special seasoning that made them taste absolutely fantastic. Even the standard wine and Bloody Mary were top-notch, featuring Dao Vineyards and Tito's!
Despite changing ownership, this restaurant remains a true gem in the Valley. I've lived here since 2002, and it still sets the standard for others to follow. I do wish they still offered their fantastic Gouda Scramble, but the extensive menu has something to satisfy even the pickiest eaters, like my wife. I've come across some negative reviews and can't help but wonder if some of these people overlook the widespread staffing challenges facing the service industry, not just here but across the country. Yes, I occasionally have to wait for my food during peak times—nothing too extreme—but the staff is always friendly and the food is consistently fresh. It truly is the best spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch in the Valley. With the addition of alcohol, my guests always feel well taken care of.
The food is fantastic, and you can tell because there's a wait to get in at 11:00! The service might be a bit slow, but the delicious food makes it all worth it!
The food was good, but I was totally grossed out by the waitress behavior. One waitress dropped 2 napkin-wrapped utensils on the floor where everyone was walking, picked them up and set a table with them. I saw another waitress drop a bunch of clean forks on the floor and put them back in with the other clean forks that were being given to customers. Not sure if the workers here are being trained, that is super unacceptable!!
2nd iteration of a Bigfork (Echo Lakers) tradition, since 70's. Pro Staff, outdoor seating, go at 630 or 7 for zero crowds. Small counter area for singles. Lengthy wait when busy, but garden lawn hangout area. Serves beer now I think, auxiliary coffee shop too. Not my favorite Chicken Fried Steak, go to Sykes for that...comes on 2 plates.
