Kal's Chicken Coop - Billings

Decided to give Kal's a try and so glad I did- best chicken sandwich I've had! Give this place a try, you won't be sorry.

I went under the new ownership and I will not be back. The food has changed for the worse. The buns are smaller and more dense, the fries are different and not worth the money. But most importantly the chicken is different and for the price, the portion size is not what it was before the buyout. Less sauce, dry and bland. The chicken is too thick for the breading and they really need to go back to what made the Chicken what I would call the best in Billings. If they want to make it with Chick-Fil-A they will have to do better.

This restaurant was closed when I visited. There were no signs in the window, and I couldn't find any updates on Yelp. It appeared to be a restaurant, but it seemed like no one was there.

I would rate the food at this restaurant 3 stars, but the customer service was good enough to earn 4 stars! The chicken was well-cooked and not overly dry, but personally, I found the breading a bit excessive. I prefer a lighter coating, but if you enjoy a lot of crispy breading, you’ll probably love it! The bacon was high-quality, as was the potato bun. Overall, the sandwich was decent, featuring mostly high-quality ingredients; however, it felt a bit dull and not particularly exceptional. I’m interested in trying some of their other menu items to see if anything else stands out more. Unfortunately, the macaroni and cheese was a big letdown. It was definitely macaroni, but I seriously wondered if they forgot to add any cheese at all. It tasted like mildly creamy noodles, with no cheese flavor whatsoever, which was very disappointing.

Our cashier was very friendly and welcoming, answered our questions professionally. The food was made fresh when we ordered, and wasn't a long wait at all. There seemed to be a lot of attention to detail in regards to the food, it was hot and fresh, and seemed to be made with REAL ingredients, unlike some popular chains. Great food and great service, we'll be coming back!
