You'll be hard pressed to find better BBQ, and the peach cobbler is top notch, as are the fresh cut fries. The building doesn't look like much from the outside, but that's often true of the best places. You won't regret a meal spent here.
Big Seven Travel named Carlile 's the eleventh best 'cue stop in Alabama, so we decided to give it a try. We opted to sample the Carlile burger with fried okra as a side, and the pulled pork sandwich with 2 rib bones and sides of french fries and onion rings. One refillable iced tea completed the order $25.36). The burger took us back to the greasy spoons of our youth, and the fries and onion rings came to life in the time-honored manner, with a generous helping of the ketchup based house sauce. Good eating. The mustard based sauce likewise helped the pulled pork and ribs along ... the latter massive and meaty, but also barely seasoned. Only the okra disappointed, being badly overdone. Nothing here on the BBQ side of the meal made us go wow, but we would happily return for the burgers here.
Needed to be at a nearby business for a meeting so we ended up here for lunch beforehand. I was intrigued by the fact they've been in business since 1945. This is exactly the type of place I love. Nothing pretentious; no fancy decor driving up the prices; just a modest business offering good food. I was kind of hoping that the people dining with me would order something different from me so I could see what it all looked like, so I purposely ordered last (third). Well, as soon as I did, one changed the order to the same thing I had ordered. Then the other also said that sounded pretty good and changed, too. I, and subsequently all three of us, ordered the Carlile Burger. Comes with bacon, cheese, grilled onions, and some Carlile special sauce. The burger was not greasy, and I even asked if they ground their own since it seemed to be a finer grind than many burgers. They do not, but they do hand pat their own burgers each day. And the special sauce turns out to be a combo of the Original and Red Sauce Carlile makes. They do offer it bottled at the register if you want to take some home. We also split a pint of their hand-cut fries for the table. Added some cookies at the end since we didn't have time for the pudding or pie, but they looked fantastic. I think the cookies may be another brand they just bake instead of homemade--like the baked ones you might find at several fast food joints. Definitely a place I would go back!
Nice lunch. Seriously authentic bbq pit. BBQ pork was great. Fried okra perfect. French fries ok. Coleslaw good. Smoked turkey sandwich was very nice, with Alabama white sauce. The stars? Banana pudding, coconut pie, the atmosphere and servers. Really fun. Worth every penny.
I Just wanted to say a big thank you to Mrs Sandra, she's genuine kindness and bluntness at times when I needed to face reality are what made me progress. I invested $5000 and got $46,700 in a week. I only wish I had known about you earlier from the first moment I decided to trade. Nevertheless, I am grateful! contact her via Email: [email protected] WhatsApp: +1(512) 893-1587
