Gordos - Birmingham

When you enter the food store, the restaurant is to the left and up the stairs. As soon as I reached the top, I was greeted by the sight of the largest pork I’ve ever seen! I arrived around 5 PM, and there were about five other customers. I was able to place my order very quickly. The kitchen is open, so you can see everything going on. They have a salsa bar with a variety of salsas, and the chef was so helpful, recommending one that I thought was really nice of him. Now, about the food… oh my goodness, it was heavenly! The young chef, who sported a mustache, cooked the meat to perfection, and the tacos were outstanding! I couldn’t wait to rush home and write this review. I seriously can’t believe I overlooked this spot! Plus, they’re open seven days a week! Let me calm down for a second! After we finished eating, we decided to go up another flight of stairs because we saw people heading that way, and I’m so glad we did! There’s a beautiful bakery up there! Everything is just $1! I really wanted to jump back in my car and get more treats, but I’ll wait until tomorrow and just snack on what I bought today. Gordo’s has certainly gained a new regular customer!

This restaurant is authentic, affordable, and delicious. I’ve been there about six times this month, and we don’t usually eat out often. It’s conveniently located near my home, making it both budget-friendly and enjoyable, plus it gives me a chance to practice my Spanish. The tacos are incredible, and I really enjoy getting treats from the bakery as well. The market downstairs is lovely, although I haven't purchased anything from there yet. I absolutely love this place and am so happy we live nearby!

As Texans, we were on the hunt for a good taco spot in Birmingham, and we found just that at Gordo's! The chicken tacos are fantastic, and the avocado salsa is delicious. We will definitely be repeat customers!

Absolutely the best food in and around bham. I cant get by often because its quite a drive from my home but anytime I come close to this place i HAVE to stop in for a few tacos and some sweet bread from the bakery. Sometimes i even make a special trip just to get the ginger type pig shaped soft cookies(? . They bake all their breads fresh daily! The staff is welcoming and helpful! Its by far the best place to eat... not just the best mexican joint but the best out of all the different options. Downfall- they sell out of some of the sweet bread so fast sometimes i miss out.

One of my all time favorite Sketch-Mex restaurants! I recommend going on the weekends when the avocado-infused pico de gallo is on the sidebar. Chicken tacos are excellent!
