The Bishop Vesey - Birmingham

The service is pretty bad from the cocky bits of kids behind the bar. If you want a clean table 9 times out of 10 you have to clear it then wipe it over yourself. The staff are often quite rude. There seems to be a complete lack of discipline in the place. Also the the alleged free WIFI is often impossible to connect with.

I visit this pub 4 to 5 times a week…..it is my local. It pains to have to write this review. The quality of breakfast is POOR. I have sent my traditional breakfast back twice over the last 6 months. When you order anything off the breakfast menu it is virtually delivered in under 3 minutes to your table. Why….. the cook has cooked everything in advance. The bacon is over cooked, as are the hash browns, sausages etc. the difference in the breakfast between its sister pub, The Mare Pool, in Mere Green is like chalk cheese. The cook from the Bishop Vesey needs to visit the Mare Pool speak to their cook.

I have been to weather spoons on many occasions, so when my wife suggested lunch at the Bishop, I had no cause for concern, however when the steak and kidney pudding arrived, I was shocked, it looked like. A child’s meal, and the peas looked processed, It was the smallest Adult meal I had ever seen. It tasted good, but the pudding and mash were such small quantities, I was actually still very hungry after finishing, as I said I am usually very happy at weather spoon restaurants…….very disappointed, I was not asked if my meal was ok, during or after the meal.

It’s Mother’s Day so chose to have breakfast at our favourite Wetherspoons. The usual management team were evidently not on. Drinks took 15/20 to arrive at the table despite no one at the bar when they were ordered and had to go to the bar to ask for the drinks. Coffee machines kept running out of stuff. Most importantly health n safety breached with three members of staff serving food and drink with long hair that wasn’t tied back at all. One with hair tied up but so long still came down past her shoulders. Not good. The meal as usual though was lovely. Hopefully next visit the hygiene regs will be adhered to

Best Wetherspoons in the Royal Town ? Staff are wonderful. Vv busy place non intimidating, really nice atmosphere. Would like to revisit ..highly recommended !
