I recently tried some amazing Greek Christmas treats at this restaurant, including the Vasilopita (a New Year's brioche with a hidden coin of good luck). I also enjoyed their variety of coffees, pastas, and sweet baked goods. It was a beautiful discovery! I will definitely be returning every time I am in Birmingham.
A couple of times for lunch. the place is easy to find, it is a small but welcoming deli. besides the fresh selection of baked, they sell dried crimp and organic jams. I had the tiropita (cheese baked) and the sweet bougatsa....The tiropita could have used a bit more cheese-filing as the pie-like texture of the baked can become a bit dry. the bougatsa was absolutely delicious and the added zimt was a plus. this was generously filled, the baked was crispy and fresh. it was a huge experience, with the mention that the place can easily be overcrowded around top-eating hours.
I was in the mood for a coffee and cake, so I decided to try out this place. The coffee was great, and I went with the walnut cinnamon cake, which was fantastic. It had the perfect balance of cinnamon and walnuts, and the texture was very moist. The fact that it was chilled was a nice touch, especially in the hot weather. I noticed that they also offer authentic Greek cakes, so I'll definitely be back to try more. They also cater for business events, so I'm looking forward to trying their cakes at my next work function. They also serve chilled coffee and Greek frappes, which I really enjoyed. Birmingham has plenty of independent cafes, but finding good desserts can be a challenge - this place certainly delivers.
To be fair better coffee than Yorks and none of the hipster rubbish and great sandwiches. The freddo cappuccino is worth trying too
