All facilities very clean and tidy. Would visit again. Local Dobbies could learn here about efficient service. Hope Palmers could keep this up on a busier day.
Christmas afternoon tea, disappointing. Service was good, plenty to drink. We paid an extra £2 per person for a cheap Christmas cracker. £20 pp) Sandwiches had cheap margarine, scones were nice with cream and jam, top tire cakes) very very small, not home made , stollen mini mince pie, Xmas cake and some horrid chocolate tasting moose, mini jelly custard/ cream in a shot glass . All felt poor quality for palmers as their normal food is great, won’t repeat this experience .
The vegetarian sausage sandwich was inedible. It was not a proper vegetarian sausage, more like a small, lukewarm potato croquette. The staff were unhelpful when I raised my complaint.
Popped in for coffee mid morning. We were shown to a table and our order for two coffees was taken promptly but we then waited about 20 minutes for it to arrive. The coffee was not very hot when it did arrive. The cafe was busy but there was obviously a hold up either in the kitchen or with the coffee actually being brought to us once it was made. Maybe not enough staff preparing the food as there seemed to be several waitresses.
I'm writing this about Palmers as I can't write a review about the garden centre as a whole because it appears it's not on trip advisor!! So we went along to see the Christmas display 2023. Don't bother!! It's about as u Christmussy as you can get! Colours are obscene! Greys and pinks and even blacks but very few traditional colours! Almost like they are trying to put us off from going! Well done, you have!
