Black Hill Ballarat

Thursday is steak night... nice ! The steak was a nice thick 250g Porterhouse, cooked beautifully medium rare as asked. It had a nice crust with a smokey char flavor. I ordered it with the garlic sauce, which came in a small jug and was quite nice. The chips were plentiful and lovely and crunchy and again cooked well, seasoned with sea salt. The salad consisted of various leaves of lettuce and baby spinach, finely julienned carrot, red oinion, tomato, red capsicum and cucumber all dressed in a sweet and slightly tangy mustard seed dressing which went well with my steak. Presentation was very good, on both plates. My wife ordered the vegetables with her steak with a mushroom gravy which she also thoughly enjoyed and were cooked well. All in all a good solid meal and value. The staff where attentive and the meal came out timely even though the restaurant was near full. Many thanks for our enjoyable meals :

Enjoyed a family meal tonight at the Black Hill. The service was great and staff were super friendly. Meals were fantastic and the atmosphere was great. We’ll be back for sure. Service: 5

Sat at table 13. Took about 40 mins to get starter and a hour to get main. Food was okay. Had a rude server, what happened to the customer is always right? Wasn’t asking for a refund or a complete new meal, just a chop cooked a little more she told me that’s how it’s meant to be- medium. It was more like medium rare. Then offered to get it cooked a little more. Then said when paying that it says they are medium on the menu to my mum. This was all not in a nice polite friendly way and it’s the only thing that we complained about. Won’t be coming back. Missing tiles in cubicle. Just placed on top of shelf.
