I was very excited for the linguini dish but found it a little pretentious for comfort food. Pasta a little hard and many elements more tricky to eat. The worst part was the meat substitute that was hard because rubber-square pieces would have been better. I don't think it would stop trying anything else again, but it would be precocious if we did.
We returned for a Valentine's Day meal, where we enjoyed the tasty pea-filled ravioli as a starter. The mushroom and chestnut strudel with gravy was lovely, although we found the spiced parsnip mash a bit too strong and the roast pineapple dessert overly sweet. One suggestion for improvement would be to offer more vegan-friendly wines and cocktails. For breakfast, they have two vegan options: a garden breakfast or vegan sausage and hash brown sandwich. The garden breakfast was delicious with vegan spread available, though we're unsure if they offer plant-based milk. The coffee was excellent. On April 1st, we returned to try the new vegan options on the menu. We ordered the hairstyles with mayo, linguine with meatballs, and aubergine and bean chili, all of which were scrumptious. It's great to see a small pub company offering such a variety of vegan options and we will definitely be back. Highly recommended!
I recently visited this restaurant after discovering it online and noticing they had vegan options, which impressed me. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were very friendly and helpful. We started with tortilla chips and sweet potato fritters, followed by cauliflower steak and banana blossom fish and chips. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful and the portions were good. The food was delicious and satisfying, especially the banana blossom fish and chips which were the best I've had. We were too full for dessert, even though we were tempted. On a later visit for Valentine's Day, we enjoyed the pea shoot ravioli starter and the mushroom and chestnut trudel, although the parsnip mash was a bit too strongly spiced for my liking and the roast pineapple dessert was overly sweet. One suggestion for improvement would be to clearly identify which wines and drinks are vegan-friendly. They offer two vegan breakfast options, both of which were delicious. I also tried the new vegan options on the lunch menu and enjoyed the hairstyles with mayo, linguine with meatballs and eggplant, and bean chili. The food was tasty and the service was great. I appreciate that this small pub company offers vegan options and will definitely be returning.
I was slightly disappointed with the food quality at this restaurant, as was my partner. It may have been over-conceptualized. I had high hopes for the linguini dish, but I found it to be a bit pretentious for my tastes. The pasta was too firm and some elements were difficult to eat. The meat substitute was particularly bad, tasting hard and rubbery. I wouldn't write off trying other dishes in the future, but I would approach with caution.
