I'm curious for the menu, will need to come back privately for dinner to check it out. An overwhelming atmosphere however that needs deeper investigation for the rest of the stars.
After a long, long hike I was pretty exhausted and very ravenous. I stumbled upon this pub, the place is not much to look at from the outside, but once you go through the doors, BOOM! It was like a little disneyland, so much to look at, so much going on. I can't even describe it, but I felt like Alice in Wonderland. It's very dimly lit, which makes the pub super cozy. I wasn't really in drinking mode, but then we spotted these cocktail pitchers on the menu for just 15 € each. We got the Gin, cucumber and elderflower pitcher, so refreshing! And we got at least 3 glasses each out of it. The food menu looked interesting too. They have the standard pub fare options, but also a few good healthy and vegetarian options. My friend ordered the quinoa burger and me the chickpea burger. When the food arrived, two quinoa burgers came out....oops. So while my friend was tucking in, I had to wait a bit for my burger. I tried hers, and it was amazing! It came with a lovely beetroot risotto, salad and skinny fries. I liked it so much, I actually asked the waitress if the wrong order was still out there as I wouldn't have minded eating it now. But no, the chickpea burger was on it's way. A few minutes later the manager came over, apologised for the mix up and offered us another pitcher of cocktail on the house. WOW! I was very impressed, this is what is called GREAT customer service, as I hadn't even complained. My chickpea burger came out after a little while. It was a little bit dry, and it came with a gluten free bun (I don't know why? The quinoa burger definitely was the winner that night. (So was the cocktail actually, of which we had a third pitcher....in hindsight not the best choice as it was a schoolnight, but ssshhhh! It's a pity this pub is quite far out for me, but it's definitely worth the trip, which I will be making again. and again.
The place deserves a point for its thru out competent n very friendly staff and another one for a good atmosphere for a beer w is supported by a appealing drink menu with reasonable prices. (Pint 5.50€ There are no further points to hand out unless you like your steak charcoal style (no matter if you ordered it medium or well done it will be all black outside and your chips soft. In addition you should not come very hungry since food rather sized for the small appetit. The tasty duck spring rolls is actually one single spring roll chopped in half..and the surf n turf counts about 5 tiny shrimp only.
The Leopardstown Inn or the Lep as its known by locals/regulars is about a 3 minute walk from my house. I guess I dont really take advantage of that fact too much though! There is always plenty of people frequenting this place. It is pretty busy at the weekends and especially St. Stephens day with the crowd from the Leopardstown races popping in after. Great bar food. Great award winning restaurant upstairs called Greens. Now for the piesta resistance the cocktail carousel bar and it revolves! After you are served fantastic cocktails by the award winning mixologists you may be confused if you leave your seat and return perplexed scratching your head thinking 'hmm I 'm sure I left my seat here '. Dont worry though it will come around shortly! Great place , great atmosphere and great staff. Free WFi.
Although I was never a huge fan of the 'Lep Inn ' Its versatility and popularity are certainly evident. Its new extension dubbed 'Carousel cocktail bar ' is pretty unique and if you can get over the awful decoration you can enjoy the revolving carousel bar, see what thats like after a few pints. New refurbishment aside, the rest of the pub hasn 't really changed. They still serve decent pints, cocktails and dish up a Carvery lunch everyday. The portions are huge and its no surprise the place is always jammed at lunchtime. Theres also bar food if you just want to have a snack. It 's pretty standard pub stuff chicken goujons, scampi, fish chips. As always gets a big local attendance, Sunday lunchers and the crowd on the way to club 92.
