The restaurant is conveniently located with some parking spaces available, although it may be hard to find without directions. The food was delicious and the restaurant was a great choice for a private gathering. We had a party of 40 people and there was plenty of space, with the possibility to accommodate even more. The bar had reasonable prices and a good selection of drinks, including a small wine list. The service was attentive and welcoming. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.
I'm not sure what's going on with this restaurant, but it's a letdown now. The salad we ordered took 45 minutes to arrive after multiple inquiries, and it was dry, bland, and missing key ingredients listed on the menu! Despite being popular, I hope they step up their game, but I won't be returning.
I love going to grandstand two or three times a week. it is the best choice for lunch and beer in the sydney uni campus and the environment. from the menu I enjoy especially the risottos that always arrive delicious and perfectly cooked. each day prepare a few specials, usually with a delicate hauch asiens, which surprise and make my afternoon happy. I also used the grandstand to work alone, or have an informal meeting with muffins and perfectly brewed coffee.
Luke Mitchell seems to have breathed new life into the Grandstand Restaurant on No.1 Oval in the grounds of University of Sydney. Just a skip and a hop from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, lunchtime diners can find themselves elbowing sportsmen, health workers and academics for...a table with a view over the sports oval. The menu is small but interesting, and the lunchtime specials seductive. We had chicken breast wrapped in proscuitto on a bed of salad and boconccini. Our friend went for the Salt and Pepper Calamari with potato wedges. The service is adequate for this restaurant's station in life. Out waiter, Francisco, happily indulged us. What a hidden gem this restaurant turned out to be. You can park in the university grounds, for a fee. Grandstand is a short walk from anywhere on the university campus, it is just at the end of the driveway from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Emergency Department and a short bus ride from the City. They have a wine list, and serve beer and soft drinks. You can also have coffee here. I'm going back.
