Initially, I was surprised to learn that the restaurant did not accept cash after I had ordered my meal. However, the staff was friendly and efficient. The meal was decent, but I noticed a hint of stale cooking oil in the dish.
Sunday afternoon outing with family. Welcomed on arrival. Service very good. Excellent range of choices on menu. Fish and chips were delicious. All food well presented Price at top of range we are prepared to pay.
This lovely hotel is staffed with great employees, but unfortunately, the chef's skills were lacking. We were excited to try the impressive menu we had heard about when booking, but were disappointed to find that the dishes were underseasoned and the main courses were lukewarm. The pigeon and duck were both overcooked and dry. Overall, we left feeling let down. Additionally, we agree with other reviewers that the no-cash policy is inconvenient and lazy.
The dining experience began on a high note with tasty appetizers and a lovely wine in a pleasant atmosphere. However, after a 45-minute wait, we were informed that our main course order had not been received by the kitchen. All four of us had ordered halibut, but it appeared as though two small portions had been split between the four plates. The fish was accompanied by an overwhelming amount of clams and samphire on top of a small serving of potatoes, all drowned in what seemed to be dishwater. Priced at £29.95, the dish was deemed unacceptable. Despite a 25% discount agreed upon, we still paid £145 for a disappointing dining experience. We decided to cancel our reservation for a future visit and will not be returning to this restaurant.
