On our third visit to the restaurant we couldn't have asked for more surely service. The waitress clearly wasn't interested in serving us and just figured it was the end of her shift. While she did take our order and got our coffees - she never came back and did leave - and the new server taking over clearly wasn't interested in offering to refill our coffees. It is too bad because the food is still one of the best in the area - but just this week we decided to give it another go. We went in (again there were not a lot of customers in the restaurant) and with a different waitress this time . . .. we counted that it was just over 4 minutes before she came and asked if 'we wanted anything'. I almost made a joke of it like 'ya food'. So the again the service was again at the level of 'why are customers coming in here and bothering me". The tart my wife ordered came cold and the pastry definitely not fresh which is a pity because there is a bakery nearly next door which does offer very nice butter tarts. So it is a pass from now on - two times withing weeks of each other and with different servers. It just shows that if owners don't keep a watch over there staff and let them know that they like to keep standards set for service . . . then it really doesn't matter how good their food is.
The last time we ate at this restaurant it served Chinese food. The interior has been redone and so has the menu. We ate there on a Sunday night and the place was packed - both with tourists and locals. We had to wait a bit for our table to be cleaned but our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. I had the pickerel and my partner had the whitefish - both lightly breaded and pan-fried and not at all greasy. The meal came with a choice of soup or salad, vegetable and choice of potato - we had more than and enough food and best of all our meal was reasonably priced even with two glasses of wine.We Won't hesitate to dine at the 17 again.
Visited this restaurant and ordered a taco salad- no meat. Was told i could have a garden salad with cheese instead with chips. I got about ten chips, lettuce and cheese. for full price! My father, an 83 year old former business man made a comment to the waitress and she replied. "I dont know why you are telling me, i did not make it" and walked away.Too bad- they need tourist business and just lost ours!
Seventeen Restaurant does not disappoint. No matter the time of day, week, month or year they continue to provide delicious food at reasonable prices. This is not an upscale restaurant, but their food is as good or better and for half the cost. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed.
We moved to Blind River two years ago and quickly found this Gem right on the main street corner to the highway. Great location and easy to find if you're just passing through. We love going here for family dinners or quiet date nights. I like to order their corned beef sandwich on homemade bread. They also have amazing fish and chips. What I love the most about this place is the people. It is family run and the people who work there WANT to be there. Very friendly and accommodating. The owners give back to the community in more ways than most businesses. They even put on a free Christmas dinner for those who don't have anyone to spend it with. Simply amazing. I would recommend stopping here when you're passing through this beautiful little tow n.
