We did a cooking class and learnt how to cook sole thai food in their kitchen, which was amazing. Apple and Noi are both super friendly. Noi took us around the local market and she had an infectious enthusiasm for the food and thai culture and a brilliant personality. The restaurant was nice, it has cool views overlooking the river. The area is quiet and peaceful.
You get what you pay owner (Noi) Apples Retreat And this is exactly what you get. Moldy shower curtains, mould odour in the room, cold water shower because boiler didnt work. You can hear when your neighbours are showering or using the toilet. Bed linen have stains and holes. The owner itself seems to have many prejudices against farangs. The street to the hotel is not nice for walking because of the cars. It is really hard to find positive points. The rooms are cheap. The toilet and the washbasin looked new. If you want to stay here, just dont expect anything for that price and you wont be disappointed.
This is the best place to stay in Kanchanaburi. Apple and Noi take care of their guests like you are family. We've arrived early before the check in and wanted to go to the Erawan waterfalls. Even if Noi was busy with her cooking class she has taken care of us and arranged a taxi driver who has driven us to the waterfall and waited there untill we are ready to go back to the hotel. The rooms are great, if you eat at the restaurant you'll get a breathtaking view on the river that makes you feel you don't want to leave. We'll be back soon, as there is a lot to explore around Kanchanaburi if you like history or nature.
Fabulous! I arrived in low season, without a booking, and my room was immaculately clean, with soap, shampoo, fresh water and glasses in sterile bags. Noi speaks excellent English and is incredibly helpful. As there were no tours available, she gave me directions and tips on how to get everywhere and, basically, created my tours on the spot. The food is great, their restaurant is famous and serves authentic Thai food for very reasonable prices. Also, this place is run by two local women, very brave and very inspiring, who do wonders to support local traditions and culture. I wish I could go back there again Ah, and the location is great: quiet, with an amazing view, and close to the famous bridge and the railway station. Loved my lazy time there.
Simply great. Very simple rooms, clean, uncluttered, peaceful, clean and very comfortable. We always sleep wonderfully well. No TV, no swimming pool, no room service, nothing but what you actually need. This is my third visit of what I hope will be many. Across the road is Apple Noi's Blue Rice restaurant, with good food in a brilliant riverside setting. The welcome is delightful, and the rates are very affordable. Since my first visit,I haven't even bothered to check out the other choices.
