Kanpai - Boca Raton

Visited on a Saturday evening and decided to try one of the bbq combination meals $50 option.) portions were very generous and meat was well seasoned. unfortunately our server was not very attentive. when he brought out the various meat and beside dishes, he did not give a statement about what was, nor did he give proposed cooking times. also, after he had taken our food, he never came back to check us out. overall, eating was good, but the service was moderate.

We always visit Kanpai when we come down to Boca. It is the best sushi around! They have such interesting and creative rolls.

Place was busy and we were seated quickly with a reservation. Our server stopped by 10 minutes later for drinks. Our drinks arrived 20 minutes later and we immediately placed our order. They had several things listed on the menu that they no longer carry. We ordered and waited 50 minutes for food that was luke warm and obviously had been sitting there for a while. The volcano rice arrived wrapped in tinfoil which we apparently had to open ourselves. The server explains that usually it is lit on fire but they were out if alcohol?? I can’t get smell of the pad Thai out of my nose. It was dry and overcooked. The seafood was like rubber. We asked for a second round of drinks which we are still waiting for. They took the seafood rice off the bill and offered to replace but we had already been waiting an hour and 20 minutes and the others we almost done with their food. We had to ask 3 people for silverware. Bad service . Gross food.

My girl wanted hibachi grill, Kanpai advertises Kanpai on there site, There is no hibachi grill in the sense of what everyone thinks of when they think a kibachi place but there food is Made with kibachi but in the back so you don’t get the kibachi experience. It’s misleading but the food was amazing. The service couldn’t have been worse. It wasn’t too busy, our waitress wasn’t even trying and we saw her three times in the span of 2 hours and she was nonchalant and unbothered by her section of tables being upset about lack of service. People were giving up and walking out. Our orders were the wrong food and she forgot to put my miso soup in at all. The App’s are amazing here and you’ll want to put them in as soon as you sit down and the waitress ask for your drinks, while you’re at it order 2 drinks, so you don’t have to wait for the refill and the app is needed especially to hold you over for the long wait for the main meals and when they have to remake the said wrong meal because they gave you the wrong food. The food runners and hostess will be your primary sources of anything so be ready to talk to them. I would not recommend this restaurant. Worst service I’ve ever had.
