During my four-week stay in Bodhgaya for work at a local NGO, I stumbled upon Fun Friday during one of my bike tours and have been returning regularly since. As a non-meat eater, I was pleased to find that the professional chef always made sure to prepare something delicious for me, such as tasty vegetable-filled crepes. In addition to their Indian cuisine, I also tried their pasta and was impressed by the al dente noodles smothered in a flavorful vegetable and garlic sauce. I even indulged in some French fries, a sinful deviation from their usual Indian fare. I enjoyed watching the chefs work through the glass partition and was particularly impressed with their excellent bread. I will definitely be returning.
During my week stay at the lovely White House guesthouse near Fun Friday, I had the pleasure of dining at Ajay Kumar's excellent kitchen with his skilled staff. They are fluent in English and are knowledgeable about Bodhgaya, making them a popular choice among European visitors. Fun Friday is conveniently located near Roots Institute, just off the main road leading to the temple.
At first look you will find it like any other normal budget restaurant, but the food offered was really good and so was the service. They speak English is well so foreign toursists would also wont have any issues. Pocket friendly too.
Am staying in Bodhgaya to work for four weeks at a local NGO; during one of my bike rides I came across Fun Friday and have since been back regularly. I don't eat meat and can't handle too spicy - the professional cook always took care to cook me something I enjoyed - including delicious crepes filled with vegetables. To have a change from Indian food I also tried their pasta and was impressed that it was al-dente with delicious vegetable/ginger/garlic sauce. I even dared to order French fries and thoroughly enjoyed this sinful deviation from their tasty Indian food. I really like that I can watch them cooking through the glass partition and can see what is happening. Their bread is the best that I found in Bodhgaya. I will be back!
