The menu nicely covers all of your Japanese expectations. They have everything from Ramen to large platters of fish, steak, and chicken....I ordered the Samurai Platter and was amazed with the quantity of food. It was delicious. The owner is quite a character. He came out of the kitchen and spoke to us in English for about 10 to 15 minutes and told us all about his life experiences. I was there with seven of my students and we were all amazed and captivated by his charm and cooking skills. I'm sure you'll love this place if you with your significant other or large group. Note they have only about 10 tables in the whole restaurant, so it's cozy.
