The decor features a Portuguese theme, complete with cute plates adorning the ceiling, Portuguese ornaments on the walls, and a large bar where you can sit and watch the action unfold. I opted for a quarter chicken with a side of fries and salad. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, exactly what I expected from a reliable Portuguese restaurant known for its excellent charcoal grilling. The real standout, however, was the fries! They were hands down the best fries I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked and topped with a secret blend of 17 spices that created an absolute explosion of flavor! The portion sizes are generous as well, with a large serving on my plate. To accompany my meal, I enjoyed a Sumol Passion Fruit drink and a Pastel de Nata. I absolutely love Sumol (imported from Portugal), and it paired beautifully with the food. The Pastel de Nata was fantastic, and I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a dozen to take back to work to share. They were a huge hit, prompting me to return to Escudo Express with some coworkers so they could experience it too. They were equally impressed with the chicken and were blown away by the fries. Everyone left delighted by the exceptional food. The prices are reasonable, offering great value for such quality. I highly recommend the chicken, fries, and Pastel de Nata. This place truly is a hidden gem on Montreal's North Shore. The owner is straightforward yet friendly and has a good sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and definitely plan to return!
It was the best meal I've had in years! Instead of going to the typical tourist spots in Montreal, head straight to this gem for an unforgettable dining experience. While the restaurant is on the smaller side, it offers the unique opportunity to sit at the bar right next to the kitchen and watch the culinary magic unfold. The food is absolutely incredible—every bite left me amazed. The chicken is incredibly juicy, and the fries are seasoned to perfection. And the poutine? It's hands down the best in the world. The portion is massive, almost more meat than fries. I ordered a small size, but it was so large that it surpassed a typical dinner entree. If you're anywhere near Montreal, you absolutely have to try this poutine! The owner is incredibly friendly, and I hope he opens more locations, like in Toronto. Excellent value, outstanding taste, and an incredible dining experience. I would come to Montreal just for this restaurant, and I plan to do so soon!
This cozy restaurant can be a bit windy if you sit near the door at the counter during the winter. The service is excellent, and the food is delicious. It's rare to find such a lovely spot in the suburbs.
Ok Sunday adventure...found on yelp..shrimp croquettes with chipoltle mayo 8/10 nice texture a liitle bland for the shrimp taste. Drinking Sumol ,traditional pineapple beverage..sweet and refreshing. Great home cut fries fresh garden salad and Amazing chicken.
Amazing chicken cooked right on the grill. The rissois were out of this world, if you like fried food don't miss out on these beauties. If you sit at the counter you can chat with the owner who is super friendly and watch him cook. My only complaint is that they aren't closer to me!
