The place exudes a classic diner vibe, as it truly is a vintage diner that continues to operate with a warm, familial atmosphere. While many of the customers are regulars, newcomers like us who stumble upon this hidden gem will definitely feel welcomed.
I’ve been visiting this restaurant for decades, mostly in the middle of the night. However, things have changed recently. The prices have become extremely high, and the quality of the food was just average.
The food is excellent, and their scones remain a standout feature of the breakfast menu. The server was polite and very attentive.
Service went downhill so swiftly. server was more attentive to her child that was eating at the table behind us that any other customer we waited for over an hour for our food another family walked out before even receiving theirs and the food was room temp. Absolutely disappointed considering we've been regulars here for over 10 years
My husband and I went on a Wednesday morning around 9am. It wasn't overly busy, but people coming in picked up a bit after we sat down. Service was phenomenal, our waitress was very sweet. The cook read the order wrong and didn't end up making my dish, so the waitress brought my husband's food out, and we waited maybe 10 minutes while mine was cooked. The food, over all was underwhelming. For $20 and $15 for the Ranch Scramble and the Super ranch I expected a larger portion, much like they used to serve, but was disappointed in what was set in front of me. The flavor was.. lacking to say the least. I mostly tasted cheese and the occasional ham bit. My husband said he had quite a bit of bacon on his though. The scone was good, but crunchy where it should have been light and fluffy, and the cinnamon sugar on it was overly cinnamon and bitter. Merritts isn't what it used to be, but I am glad the local place is surviving still. It's a boise landmark.
