Filipino cuisine, the integration in favour of Chinese, American, Spanish, and the neighbouring nations throughout its history. As fancy as it sounds, Filipino food is not widely known. So one afternoon, my partner and I decided to visit Pinoy Bistro, hoping that it's not another overpriced fine dining Filo restaurant. The interior was cozy and simple, near the entrance was musical instruments for the band to play, or for karaoke. We ordered the crispy pork pata (knuckle) and pinakbet, a vegetable dish with pork, shrimp paste, and fresh veggies. For beginners, I suggest kare-kare, the peanut sauce based stew; kaldereta, meat in tomato sauce stew; adobo, meat braised with soy sauce vinegar; palabok, noodles dish with shrimp gravy, etc. I think the dinuguan, meat stew with pig blood; and the sinigang, sour soup will suit someone who's adventurous and comfortable with sourness. Pure sourness. I can go on all day but I will leave it for you to explore. We were really satisfied with our food here, it's valuable, it's delicious, it felt like home. The crispy pata was so juicy and tender but still preserved the crackling sound to it. The pinakbet was definitely a winner for me. The vegs still had the fresh crunchiness while the shrimp paste enhanced its flavour. Slightly sweet and salty. But warning, this is no place for healthy eaters or calories controller. Leave your diet plan at home and visit Pinoy Bistro for a wonderful Filipino food tour. Highly recommended.
Classic filo food, family run and friendly. Always get the kare kare or the sisig, they also do all you can eat now too. Definitely worth checking out!
Just like home! They have such a wide variety of authentic Filipino foods, moreso than others like La Mesa and Pomana. It's definitely more affordable and has more of that home-confy feel. I had the tocilog and sisig. I highly recommend both! I'm from Penrith hut this trek to Bondi to try Pinoy Bistro was #WorthIt! Keep it up guys. On the bonus side, they have dine in karaoke! You'll definitely feel at home here.
Great authentic Filipino food, one of the better ones in Sydney. Real good authentic sisig, great crispy pata. Only issues was they did get an order wrong and also forgot to give us sauce for some of the dishes, so just had to chase it up. They also do good great ready made desserts - leche flan & ube cake, buko pandan, fruit salad and halo halo.
