It seemed that they had turned up the air conditioning after the lunch rush, as it was quite warm inside. We started with the steamed dumplings as our appetizer. They were a bit chewy and lacking in flavor. The chicken noodle dish was decent but could have had more filling. I ordered the shrimp with vegetables, which was just average. My husband ordered the scallops in garlic sauce, which was also just okay. This restaurant used to be highly rated and recommended, but our experience was disappointing. Perhaps being located in a motel is not a good idea for a restaurant.
The food seemed like it was cooked too crispy, almost burnt. The server didn't seem to notice this until it was brought to the table. It made me wonder if they would have eaten it themselves. I would have enjoyed the appetizers, but the overly crispy coating was a mess. It was recommended to only eat half of it.
I really hate to leave a bad review because we were loyal costumes and always loved eating here, but the manager, darlene, was simply very rude for me and hanged on me. She was mocking me, too. I was so shocked at the terrible customer service a manager would give. especially bc the man who took my order last night offered amazing customer service. I checked my bank account and it showed almost $30 more was from my account than I authorized, so I called out why. (I left a cash tip) I found out that if they were using debit card, luckspalast calculates them 4.% to use their debit card. I've never been informed that the many paintings we ordered will pick up, but at least I understood where $4 of them came, so I didn't have any problems with it. I still didn't know why the others were held $25. the manager always told me that it is the bank that asks the 4% and the bank that get the extra money in the grip. it is not my bank that calculates the additional amount, it is the system luckspalast used that the 4.% so again luckspalast calculates its customers these fees. the manager was still on the bank that put all the money in the handle. that doesn't make sense. I wondered why my bank would do that and it didn't do anything else and she started interrupting me and then, when I asked her not to interrupt me, she cried and hanged on me. it was beyond unprofessional. I called back and the other person explained that 20% will be held if they leave a top. that was easy to understand when it was properly explained. I thanked her that she explained it like that and she could laugh in the background. when a faithful costumer calls to ask, they should be treated with something respect. at the mere minimum they should not be despised and laughed. I don't trust my money back to the bliss palace.
Our food was quite good, and I recommend a visit. But one tip make a reservation. The website does not mention it and I tried calling 3 times on Saturday afternoon (no answer) to inquire/make a reservation and finally just figured - I guess we just show up. Nope. Without a reservation, the two of us were seated at the bar at 6:30pm. It seemed like a fine idea at first, but it really was not ideal. Another large group seated in the bar was celebrating a birthday and had clearly pre-gamed HARD before arriving. By contrast, the dining room was quiet and would have provided an experience consistent with the $150 we spent on dinner. So, yes visit. The food is worth it. But get a reservation or opt for take out.
When you pull into this place you are going to think, absolutely no way im going in here. Ots insode of a hotel that is run down amd has weekly rooms cheap. Dont judhe a book by its cover. This was an amazing place to eat. White table cloth restaurant that has been written up in the NYT or something. You can get traditional Chinese dishes that are reasonably priced or go a little more and have some amazing food. We got there at 6 and the place filled up.Would highly recommend this place. We heard about it from a local. If you like Chinese food or seafood l, go here. You wont be disappointed.
