Contessa - Boston

We came for dinner to bring in friends from out of town. It was their first time in Boston and we had a very poor experience with their manager Lizzie. Their staff was good and so was their food. However we spoken to in a very disrespectful matter. We had two friends joining us, but they refused for them to allow to be with us. This was truly a disappointing experience, and we really expected more from a restaurant which is meant to hold themselves to a higher caliber. However, I must say the scenario was sincerely exaggerated by their manager Lizzie, truly disappointed from their tone of her voice and how we were treated.

I’ve been there few times , only because it’s such a magical setting. Magnificent views of Boston rooftops and very pleasant ambiance. But every time the experience goes from bad to worse It’s such a shame to ruin such a great space with rude reception, pretentious attitude and mediocre food. This is the last time I’m trying. They are soooo nasty, it blows my mind. They have some attitude in their NY restaurants, but this one really beats all records. I never wish any venture to fail but I truly hope some decent operator takes over so we can enjoy the unique setting. Until then we go elsewhere.

Arrived for a 7:30 reservation at 7:20 to celebrate a Friends Birthday . It was my fifth time going there but should have known better to expect yet another disappointing experience ! All five times greeted with a cold and unpleasant hostess .We were asked to wait for our table at the bar! At 8:15 I finally asked what was going on and was told our table wasn’t ready .Waited until 8:40 and asked to see the manager , he told us our table wasn’t ready and told us to follow him to a table way in the back of the restaurent where there is no heat and very cold . There were multiple empty tables , people were sitting there with their coats on. Refusing to sit in the cold I asked to go back and wait some more , it was now 8:45 for a 7:30 reservation.The Manager not only didn't display the slightest bit of apology he was rude and arrogant and with attitude gave us a table ! By now I was embarrassed to have invited a friend there for her Birthday !Instead of making sure the rest of our evening would make up for the disastrous start we had to keep calling the waitress for anything we needed rather than her asking us The food was fair and we should have honestly just left !I will never go back ! Not sure why they think being rude and not welcoming is a good way to have people come back !Luckily we have enough wonderful restaurants with excellent service and delicious to go and be greeted with kindness and eat good food .Shame on you Contessa and Nicholas Sullivan !

My husband and I had such a lovely time with amazing food and cocktails. Staff members are very kind and considerate, and we would love to come back for a date night again!
