The granita and cotton candy treats were incredibly entertaining! The food was also full of flavor and absolutely delicious, with the tuna tostada standing out as particularly impressive. We'll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this spot to anyone in search of great food and drinks in the city!
The chicken quesadillas we had as appetizers were fantastic, packed with chicken, and I highly recommend them. However, the grilled street corn was a bit too creamy with mayo and cheese for my taste, making it quite mushy. The grilled steak tacos were tasty but a bit saltier than I would have preferred. Inside, the ambiance was dark and candlelit, creating a cozy atmosphere, but the outdoor patio seating was charming and right on the waterfront. For vegetarian options, there were a few appetizers available, like guacamole, artichoke empanadas, and street corn.
I always have a great time at Lolita’s. Generally, their cocktails are exceptional, but this visit, I found the house margarita to be a bit off. The taste just wasn’t quite right. The indoor atmosphere is unique and somewhat eerie, especially if you’re not a fan of skulls and the red-and-black color scheme. Our server was very polite and attentive, assisting us with our order when we found ourselves a bit confused. Be sure to make reservations, as getting a table on weekends can be quite difficult. We also checked out their patio, which was quite crowded, and given that it was a hot day, we were glad we chose to stay indoors.
The food was outstanding and affordable. Street tacos were great...but the cornbread was crazy memorable. We also got to sample burger sliders...so moist and flavorful. Drinks were great. The ambience was fantastic!Only downside.. it gets loud! Outside might be better...but then you miss the creative decor, which includes red chandeliers!
We had long been meaning to come to this place and finally made it for a birthday dinner last night. Let 's start at the start the place does not show up properly in all maps and since it is a walk along the river, there is no easy way to get a car near it, so perhaps those directions need to be clearer. Having said that, the walk on a covered walkway from the bridge along the river to the restaurant is pleasant. The doors are old style, large framed. The place does look a lot darker than you can imagine or are led to believe. ID got checked at the door not sure why we had not ordered any drinks yet. But it was a pleasant interaction even with some banter. The front desk got us a table earlier than the one we had booked, it was also a Monday night. We were seated on a table and I noticed they were very close together. We are all normal sized adults and we had to squeeze and excuse our way into the other side of the table from both sides. They are also really close to the bench side, so you have to sit down and slide along. Our table had the missing skull and roses while all other tables had them. Since we wanted that iconic representation on our table too, for photos it was a birthday dinner! , we made the mistake of asking our server. Her answer was someone stole it from this table and hence we do not have it . There were several tables empty around the restaurant and I am sure they do not have the exact number of these as tables! This should have been our clue that the service was going to be shoddy. The menu is good, we had an ample variety for our various dietary needs. The flourish in the beginning with the palate cleanser a smoking bowl of grapefruit slushie with a topping of some Agave liquer was visually good and tasty. We knew the portions were small and we are not huge eaters, so we ordered enough for ourselves. Everything was tasty, portions were small not much to say about that. Service? The server did not once come to check on us, nor offer us any water topup, walking by plenty of times and coming to the tables next to us several times but turned away from us . So getting the attention in the noisy place was near impossible unless I stood up or shouted or stuck out a leg or something. We had to ask different people for water twice in the time we were there. The check came in, was pleasantly reasonable probably because we did not order any drinks this time. The check came after ages and no one came to pick it up for ages too. The candy floss that comes at the end was topped with a candle in it !!!!! for birthday. Our neighbouring table got a little cupcake with a candle for the two women who were clearly celebrating a similar event. What can you do? All in all, if any management is ever reading this, get more pleasant people and improve the service. You seem to have plenty of feedback saying so. Go to your local retail grocery shop or a cafe and you will get better service than this place.
