Auberge de L'atre - Bourganeuf

Stopped here today for lunch, chose menu €17, which was a faux fillet with frites and a choice of cheese or dessert. The Steak was excellent as was the bearnaise sauce, and the chips were really good, not the 'Macdo' look alikes, but proper chips, that actually tasted as if they were from potatoes ! How cool is that ? We chose the chocolate mousse for dessert, and that too was really good. We are nearing the end of a fantastic 3 week holiday and believe me we have been eating top high end cuisine, but today just fancied good old steak and chips washed down with a Demi carafe of Red that was very passable. As said previously it's not fast food here, but hey, why bother coming to a typical small French restaurant then ? Stay on the motorway and buy a baguette, packet of crisps and a drink, or even get to a real McDonald's ? You could get your Sat Nav to say Moo Moo ! Overall, it was very pleasant.

4 of us for lunch (set menu @13€)cous cous & salad (cous cous good but salad dissapointing)steak-hache & swordfish in sauce for main course options - both had and everyone happy with their meals.Cheese or desert included with coffee too.food all ok but although the server was friendly and kept us informed she was very stretched looking after everyone and there were some very long delays.if youre in the area - give it a try but not if youre in a rush.

We were in this traditional “auberge” and had dinner. eating is perfect, the wee good, the service good and professional, but a little cool. the price is something too high, compared to eating. it was of course all made fresh, but no real surprises that I expect at this price level. at least we enjoyed and after dinner we rolled up in our bed. note: make a reservation for the restaurant good in advance and make sure that they get a table with a view of the garden/garden square. (they also have less attractive interiors when it is occupied.)

Small place to lunch, really good food and nice service from this lady! she was very patient with us, although she had many customers herself. we had the whispers in white wine, the bavette with a wobble sauce and the fruit. very good quality for the price, total with 3 drinks €56, worth every penny: . definitely recommend, also because of the house made french!

You could get your sat nav to say moo moo! overall it was very pleasant.
