The food was OK, and in fairness it is very cheap if you eat from the menus. There is a 15% discount if you show a hotel bill from the B&B or Premiere Classe, and probably for the other hotels, too. The bread ration was miserly, and rubbish quality. Service even when we arrived was not delivered with a smile. The chap at the table next to us waited over an hour for his order of andouillette. He had finished his pint well before the food came. There seemed to be enough staff serving, so we assume the problem was the capacity of the kitchen. The restaurant is at a main road intersection, where there are several hotels. If you want to walk there, as we did, from the B&B (or Premiere Classe), there are 6 road crossings, three of them major, to negotiate. You have to go anticlockwise round the junction, because of the position of the pedestrian crossings. These are zebras, rather than traffic loght controlled; in fairness, drivers were very good about stopping for us, but we didn't fancy the walk in the dark, hence our early dinner.
Whilst staying at the Ibis Styles and that not having an evening restaurant we were offered three discount vouchers 15% to be used at either Leon,La Boucherie or Courtepaille on Monday 11th. My wife and I decided on Courtepaille and enjoyed our meal and attentive service. To start I had the Goat Cheese Terrine with Tomato Confit €5.90 very good and followed with the Nordic Salad::cos lettuce, grilled salmon, diced smoked salmon, tzatziki, tomato Confit and balsamic cream €16.70 good and for my wife 400g Cote de boeuf rib €23.90 with baked potato she thoroughly enjoyed it, flavour and cooked to perfection of rare to medium . To accompany our meal we had a large glass of Ventoux and Blanc €5.90 each. Their service was attentive, helpful and friendly and there is no service charge.
After a ferry crossing and a long drive down to Bourges, we deserved a cold beer and a decent meal. Courtepaille was a short walk from our hotel and looked busy enough to be a good choice. It took a while to get served, and some drinks while we waited would have been welcome, but eventually a really friendly waitress took our order, we chose two of the best cuts on the menu a sirloin and a ribeye both to be cooked medium. The food arrived promptly, but the meat was raw let alone rare! It went back for a second flash at the griddle , but was no better for a second attempt. The meat was badly cooked, not rested and as tough as to be unpleasant. The chips were excellent as were the ice cream deserts. The girl that served us deserved to be serving better food. We were very disappointed.
Small town burger stop in McCleary Busy little place, and not too speedyFriendly serviceHad to wait quite a while for just regular stuff.
Had some milkshakes after Scout camp. The boys raved about the Oreo shakes and I liked my blackberry shake too. Some day we will try a burger.
