We have never had a worse dining experience. We love indian food but what we were served was just horrible from start to finish. Perhaps we should have been cautious since we were the only in the restaurant. The pappadoms were literally dripping with oil and the pickles were so salty they were inedible. The prawns were hard and chewy, and didnt feel safe to eat them. The rogan josh was tastless. Both dishes had a watery sauce with no sign of onions or vegetables which makes me think it came out of a tin. Even the rice was wrong, it wasnt basmati as expected but was a watery long grain type of dessert rice. The naan bread was also dripping in oil. To top it off, the small child of the owner was allowed to run around the restaurant literally screaming at the top of his voice. We couldn't relax nor could we even hear each other speak above the noise. When asked if we enjoyed the food we had to say no, we were not even offered a discount. We went home and had toast!
We went to the restaurant during the festival of light. We found the service to be very friendly and welcoming. We had the chicken Mango curry that was just amazing and packed with flavour and the beef vindaloo that had great flavours and nicely spiced. The meals were good size serves and came with rice. We really recommend this restaurant for a great Indian meal with great service and value for money.
This is the first time we have been here since new management took over. Wow what a shock sorry but the food was not nice at all, salty overcooked oily soggy food, absolutely disgusting. Sorry the standard has dropped considerable wont be going back again what a shame was so happy to see one of our favourite foods in town
This restaurant is well located in the centre of downtown Bowen. The staff were great (owner/operators) and made some recommendations from the menu, which I tried, and really enjoyed. The food was excellent, (and I eat at a lot of Indian restaurants, across all 3 mainland Australian states). The Garlic Naan was especially delicious, not doughy like some I have had.Well worth a visit if you are looking for some food in Bowen.
