Lovely food, friendly staff. Decor a little bit cold and austere but still a great evening. Not cheap so a special treat.
Warwich Street Social, a dog-friendly eatry with a straightforward menu. It was alright. We had a camembert which was reported to be reasonable for sharing, however it was scrapings of cheese on a bit of paper... genuinely an over-priced excuse for a starter. The rest of the menu was decidedly so so.
We had a table booked and came in and asked to sit at another table while we waited, we were then ignored for 15 minutes and I had to go up to the bar while the three bar staff chatted and ask if we could order some drinks for the table, not a good start. My friend ordered a sharing pitcher and a beer the ‘sharing’ pitcher turned up but not the beer and was still put on the bill at the end of the evening. We poured out the ‘sharing’ pitcher for £30 which when it arrive to the table I was surprised by how small it was, it was a small water jug but thought maybe it tasted nice unfortunately not. had a tiny amount left after two glasses were poured for £30 you would expect a bit more than that and just tasted like a jug of soda water with some mint it was awful! I took it back to the bar and we ordered a bottle of wine instead. We were then shown to our table. We all ordered food and it arrived and the food was AMAZING couldn’t fault it at all. It was just all delicious food, we had all finished eating for about 20 minutes while multiple staff had walked past and just ignored our empty plates, I just want to say there was only three tables inside and we were the only ones eating so there was no reason to be ignored they were not busy, after waiting 20 minutes in the end I had to ask the waitress if she wouldn’t mind clearing our plates!! We then ordered a bottle of wine which was put on the bar ready for service we let two staff know we were going to go sit outside now could we take the bottle of wine that was ready on the bar they said no it’s table service we will bring it out to you, we went and sat outside on the table we were told to sit at because it was a private function on the other tables after 25 minutes my friend went inside to ask where our bottle of wine was and saw it just sat on the table we had eaten food so she brought it out herself! No other staff came up to us for the following hour to see if we wanted any more drinks or if everything was okay so eventually after being ignored we went up to the bar to pay and were told to go back and sit down again and we should of asked for the bill. I replied by saying but nobody has come over to us in over an hour so we had no choice. Really awful experience honestly all of us have previously working in hospitality for years and the service was just shockingly awful felt completely ignored and we practically had to serve ourselves!! the food was fantastic it’s just such a shame because we will never come back but lovely venue and lovely food. I have never left a review for a restaurant but was just so disappointed with the service I had to this time.
Found this place on Michelin. Perfectly pleasant staff, who told us they had a policy of bringing the starters out with the mains (we didn’t opt for the stater although we did spot other tables that somehow managed to get space between their two courses). Food was basic (burgers, fried chicken, steak etc). Perfectly decent food but NOTHING like ANY of the pics under their past reviews and certainly not worth £14 (even London prices for gourmet burgers are less than that). Both our beef and fried chicken burgers were over cooked. Staff managed to forget two requests for condiments, there was a hair in one of our two rather opaque wine glasses. Not sure if there has been a change of management, a new chef, or if Covid has meant severe operational changes, but the food is waaaayyyy below the standards of some earlier reviews. Based on our experience, this place does not even deserve a mention on the Michelin website.
