Raramen - Box Hill

Disappointed last time we came ... thought we'd give it another chance as this has been our favorite noodle/dumpling shop for YEARS. Sadly it has changed for the worse. Table service gone, queue out the front gone, once packed out - now 1/3 full, slow to serve now, food very different .... sad, sad, sad.

Busy and food very fresh. A very hot day when we visited and the centre's air conditioning not able to cope so we struggled to eat much. No fault of the restaurant.

This is the best to visit for the Real Ramen for the price with dessert and Soft drink FREE.You can't get it else where.Even with the same owner in Glen Waverly.Only give you soft drink.

Cheap dumplings no worries as they are the tastiest around with a free frozen drink as well, Its not just the dumpling its got a great menu, its simple asian food done well and all the locals love this place as its always busy.

I used to work in Box Hill and often ate in the place now called RaRaMen. I think the texture of the handmade noodles might have improved in recent months, but the place is too chaotic for my liking. It's OK to have access to frozen drinks and sweet bean soup for 'free', but if the meal you pay for is not as good as in other Asian places in the area, I'd prefer to go somewhere else.There were seven of us at the table and the total bill came to about $70 - so no complaints about the cost. We shared a beef soup, a spicy noodle dish, three lots of dumplings, a serve of buns and some fried rice. We were certainly not hungry at the end of the meal!I asked for spoons, so we could lift a dumpling with chopsticks and balance on a spoon - which is the only way three of us, as a Westerners, can manage either ramen or dumplings. A surly member of staff handed me a couple of large serving spoons and said there were no small spoons. No forks either. You have to be prepared to eat with chopsticks. Admittedly the majority of people in the place were Asian, but we are in Melbourne and even in China small spoons are provided. I'd encourage the place to cater for Westerners a little bit better.There are lots of other places to eat at Box Hill Central.
