It seems they should consider giving their employees a raise instead. After this fee is applied, the waitress still has to ask for a tip, which feels unfair to both the staff and the customers.
It took 45 minutes to get one sandwich and a side of fries on a quiet Sunday afternoon, and we were otherwise ignored. We had to ask about the status of our food. 20% service charge is added automatically onto the bill which rubbed us both the wrong way. Perhaps pay your staff a bit more? We didn’t love the automatic 20% for what was otherwise bad service. Will absolutely not be returning and wouldn’t recommend. There are far better places in the market
Great service from Colin (spl) at Nordic Brew Works the other evening. He was just attentive enough and very nice and friendly. Plus, they have great pizza too and I love well-cooked pizza. We will be back again and again.Vegetarian options: Plenty of salads, appetizers and pizzas for vegetarians. I had the mushroom soup too and it was fantastic.Parking: Lots of parking but you may have to drive to find a spot close to the restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: I do not have a wheelchair but the restaurant is on the lower level with easy access.
Nordic brewing has a cool environment good drink drinks, pretty good food, and bad service. I don't know what's going on but virtually every time you go it's a new wait staff. I was hoping they'd get their service worked out but I waited 30 minutes to get a drink tonight. Not worth the wait.
I really enjoy the food and beer here! I don’t even mind the 20% service fee, though I assume that the back-of-house staff may be earning less than minimum wage, which I thought was the reason for tipping servers. I can't say I fully understand it all. However, I did have an issue with my server making mistakes—like charging me full price for drinks during happy hour, seemingly hoping I wouldn’t notice. She also brought me a sparkling wine option that wasn’t part of the happy hour menu, despite my clear order from that menu. When I tried to clarify the prices, it felt like a game—$12 versus $5—so the extra 20% on that $7 didn't really match what I would have tipped her if I had felt she was being straightforward. Of course, I’ll never really know! I love the food and beer, and I’m definitely willing to give it another try, hoping for better service next time!
